Fundraiser

This Sunday night my husband will be doing a concert at a local church. This will be for a love offering which we will donate to a nonprofit agency that helps families fund adoption. "A Child's Hope" has been so helpful in our adoption process. Every penny we raise through this concert will be given to "A Child's Hope" and in turn whenever we need money sent to our agency, whatever we have donated will be used toward our adoption. So please pray for God's provision through this fundraiser.
My husband also uses this as a means to teach others about adoption and what God's word says about adoption. That we are His children through adoption. That now makes us joint heirs with Jesus. Once you understand that to be part of God's kingdom, He has to adopt you as His own. That God supports adotion.

Ephesians 1:5a He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will.
James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

Flea Market

YEP, going to the flea market this weekend. But not for shopping purposes. Fundraising purposes. Hopefully it won't rain. It has rained all day and suppose to rain tomorrow and they even have clouds with lightening coming out of it on the weather report, but then when I switch to another station they claim it will stop tomorrow and won't start again until Saturday afternoon late. So I am going with that station.
The purpose for the flea market is two fold. First is to clean out my garage. My garage is busting at the seams. We need to seriously get rid of stuff. So I am weeding through crates every night deciding what goes and what stays. Second is to raise money so I can send my dossier to China. We need about $1800 dollars before my agency will send our dossier to China. So please pray for the $$ to roll in. Hopefully somebody out there will want my stuff. One man's junk is another man's treasure. I hope this is true.

The Dossier

The Dossier is complete and sitting at our agency as I write this. With all the ups and downs of getting it together, it is finally out of my hands. I was able to send it FedEx on Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 before 5pm to McLean, Virginia to our agency. Our family coordinator called me on Thursday around 4 to say that she had my dossier, had looked it over and everything seemed to be in order. Now I was prepared to have redo something, and was willing to accept it calmly and just do whatever was needed, but she called and left a message to say things looked great. The will take it Monday, March 23rd to the US State Department for me, and once each document is authenticated, they will then walk it over to the Chinese Embassy for their authentication. But the bad news, you knew there had to be some, once AWAA has it back in their little hands, we haven't sent them enough money to process the dossier any farther. It has to be translated and then sent to China. So there will be no matching us with a baby until we can cough up another $1800. Please pray for guidance and provision regarding this matter.
I know He will provide. He has not failed us yet. When we decided to take that step of faith and adopt, even though we don't have that money sitting in the bank, we knew beyond a shadow of doubt that God had called us to this. Last week, even as I was working on dossier paperwork and ready to sit down and cry, my husband called to say a church invited him to come and sing for a love offering. This is one way we have been raising funds for our adoption but we have been doing the contacting of churches and this was a church that contacted us first. So it was just another confirmation that we are in God's will in all of this, it kept me going!
My husband also wants me to do a BBQ dinner for a fundraiser. A lady at our church did one with great success, but she is from the community and has lots of connections, so he wants me to approach her for help. I pray that she will help, I have no idea how to pull a dinner of that vast size off, plus I really don't know anyone out there where the church is located. I didn't grow up in that community so I am really dependent on the churches help in pulling this off, so pray!
Thanks for following along as I blog about our adoption.

Adoption Stuff

Adoption can be very frustrating. I don't mean the parenting part, we don't even have her yet. The paper chase, it can be soooooooo frustrating. Just when you think you are ready to send off your dossier, stuff happens AGAIN. This time I started to question God, is this in His will for us to adopt? He was sitting up their saying WHAT? watch this! At just the right time, He let me know we were on the right track.
Once our dossier has gone to the US Consulate and the Chinese Embassy we will have to send it to our agency with a nice fat check. And that had me concerned. But out of the blue a church called my husband and asked him to come do a concert. For you that aren't aware, this is how we have been raising funds for our adoption (at least one way and our main way). C. has been contacting churches with staff that he knows and asking if he can do a concert for a love offering. But a church, that he doesn't know the staff, called and asked him to do a concert. So pray that it is enough to send our agency when the time is right.
And that was my answer from God. Not only was it a chance to raise money and adoption awareness, it was done God's way, not our way, not our time.
